We are just coming out the other side now with the mortgage paid off and no debts, but it doesnt seem 2 minutes since we were in your position - time flies. Ive needed a new kitchen since we moved into our house 20 years ago, but never had one, however my kitchen looks lovely since I gave it a makeover using recycled units and painted doors. There are some very frivelous, extravagant people out there who end up throwing really good items out. Get your nose to the ground and seek them out. What about putting a "Wanted" sign up in your local shop etc. State how much you are prepared to pay - even it it seems ridiculously low. You can even put wanteds on Freecycle. GFood Luck with the weight loss - my baby weight is still on (and some) 19 years later! xxxxDianehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11269721218424514656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3574817252069650082.post-17761145417715914262011-05-16T14:21:15.822+01:002011-05-16T14:21:15.822+01:00Thank you Lisa! I am a member of freecycle but very rarely does anything good turn up and then its usually gone within hours there aren't many who offer a fair policy of letting things sit for a while so everyone gets a turn, their prerogative i suppose. I will give it a try though as a bike seat would be so handy! Hope the plastering and decorating goes well and is fun, we desperately need some doing as well as roof tiles/flashing sorting out but have no pennies for it yet, I am dreading another windy day :( really needs to be our priority now to get fixed but am clueless about roofs! I am so sorry you are facing your department closing, so unsettling even if you do get redeployed its such an upheaval but better than no job at all i suspect, still, not good times! Take care xMs B. May be worth a try.
A few posts ago I blogged about 2 thrift cookbooks I use a lot.
We are having a bit of a splurge moneywise just now as there is plastering to be done and decorationg afterwards. We have the money (more or less) put by for this, but finances is something I seriously need to spend a bit of time looking at too.
Fingers crossed for your job. My office is one of the ones the government annouced on Fri would be closing, though hopefully I'll be redeployed elsewhere,it'snot a good feeling.
Look forward to reading your thrifty tips.
Lisa xLisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05286339918056081955noreply@blogger.com
